It’s silly of me, I know, but it feels like trying to cram the universe into one manila envelope. It all just won’t fit. And then I end up thinking way too hard about the philosophical aspects of my character – “Who am I” ends up being a question similar to “Why are we here?” But I will try and explain myself to you, if you’ll give me a moment to gather my thoughts. Above most else, I tend to consider myself rather an artistic, emotional, unconventional sort of person. I really hate stereotypes and people who try to judge based solely on what a person looks like or does with their free time or even what they believe in. Although I am kind of selfish like that, as I tend to hate the stereotypes that people try to apply to me the most. Creativity is one of the traits that I value most about myself. I enjoy most kinds of art (I have the most experience with drawing and graphics stuff in PhotoShop), writing creatively (especially poetry, but other stuff, too, occasionally), and, above all, MUSIC. I love to listen to pretty much any kind of music, although I do have favorites. Still, there is no genre that I entirely hate - not even rap, country, or the other standard hated genres – so long as it is played in moderation. I also love playing the trumpet in pretty much any sort of ensemble, so long as it doesn’t involve jazz improvisation. My favorite ensemble, if you ask me almost any day, is the Marching Illini. I’ve also been known to dabble in writing music, although they tend to be short pieces, and many don’t evolve past a melody line. Still, music is my passion and, with any luck, I will be graduating in three to three and a half years with a degree in Music Education. I'm gonna be a band director! And if I could change anything about myself… Well, I am not a people person. I would prefer to trade in my social ineptitude for a more confident personality, if I could. Actually, the current best way to try to talk to me is via LJ or email, because I don’t get as tongue tied and have more of a chance to think up (and think through) responses. Although I am still far from a chatterbox even there. Just keep in mind that I am simply shy, not trying to offend people (usually) by not talking to them. So… feel free to say hi, if I’m around.
